Through leads or bids secured by the Maryland Sports Commission, the Sport Corp serves as the launch pad for major national/international events in or coming to Maryland.
The 150th running of the Preakness will be a nationally recognized celebration that draws participants and visitors from across the country and around the world. The Preakness Festival 150 will establish a foundational platform for long-term, community engagement and enrichment, and deliver significant annual economic impact leading up to race weekend, while elevating and celebrating Maryland’s rich equestrian history.
The Maryland Cycling Classic is a UCI ProSeries World-class cycling event, featuring Tour de France participants, World Champions, National Champions, Olympians and cycling heroes and teams from 30 countries. The 121-mile course showcases the beauty of the Maryland countryside and finishes on Pratt street along the iconic Inner Harbor. The 2025 event we be held in September and include a men’s and a women’s race.
The Maryland 5 Star at Fair Hill is one of only two 5 Star events in the United States and seven worldwide. The prestigious 5 Star (CCI5*) designation is the pinnacle of the sport of Eventing and a level higher than the Olympic Games. Best described as an equestrian triathlon, the event showcases four days of international competition in Dressage, Cross-Country and Show Jumping.

Baltimore will serve as host city for the 2028 and 2032 AAU Junior Olympic Games at Morgan State University for 12,000+ athletes and their families from 40+ states competing in more than a dozen sports over 10 days of this premier youth sports event.

Lead by Maryland Sports Commission, the 2026 Men’s FIFA World Cup bid effort for Baltimore-Maryland was a collaborative endeavor working with strategic partners across Maryland. Through many years of work new initiates and programs were forged to better the state and country. The bids legacy lies in initiates such as Football for Peace and Let’s Play with Maryland State Youth Soccer Association.
